Terms

Sideload is a desktop launcher for web games. You download it, and it streams games published by other developers. These terms cover using it. If you publish a game, the developer agreement covers that instead.
Using Sideload
Sideload is free. There is nothing to buy, no account to make, and no sign-up. Downloading the launcher and playing is all there is.
The alpha runs on macOS 12 or later, on Apple silicon. It is early software. Expect it to change, and expect it to break occasionally.
Do not attempt to break the launcher’s sandbox, interfere with other people’s use of it, or use it to distribute anything you are not allowed to distribute.
Games are made by other people
Every game on Sideload belongs to the developer who published it. Sideload hosts and serves those games. It did not make them, and it does not own them.
Each game runs sandboxed, and can only reach the network if its listing says it needs to. That reduces what a bad build can do. It does not make Sideload responsible for what a game contains.
Reporting a game
Anyone can report a game: a player, a developer, a rights holder, or anyone else with a reason. You do not need an account.
Write to master@drnkn.dev with four things:
- The game. Its title, and its listing if you have it.
- The problem. A screenshot, what happens in play, or a timestamp in a trailer. Point at the thing.
- Why it should come down. Copyright, trademark, a rule in the developer agreement, or that the game is doing something illegal, malicious or harmful. If you hold the right, say which.
- How to reach you. An anonymous report still gets read, but it cannot be followed up on.
A person reads every report. Expect a first reply within a few days. That is an honest expectation, not a commitment.
If a report is upheld, the game is unpublished. It disappears from the public catalog and can no longer be launched through Sideload, including from an existing Library bookmark. A bookmark and play history may remain in your local Library with an unavailable state. Unpublishing does not delete local game saves or files from your Mac; a saved bookmark does not guarantee future access to a game. If a report is not upheld, you are told why.
A developer whose game is removed is told what was removed and why, and can dispute it by replying. A person reads the dispute too. The game stays down until someone decides otherwise.
No warranty
Sideload is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. It may be slow, unavailable, or changed without notice. Sideload is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from using it, to the fullest extent the law allows.
Changes
These terms will change as the product does. The date at the top says when they last did.
